Goodness me, I was watching blogTV for the first time, and then at the side they have this column where u can like post your messages, then messages will keep popping up at the side la, from the users.
So the topic was, "Why aren't we going public?" The show was investigating why singaporeans don't take public transport more.
As the show progressed, i just saw comments (at the side, that column thing), that kept saying:
"Buses so squeezy"
" The commuters are smelly"
"the buses not all have air-con, how to be world class?"
"Buses are smelly"
"we have to wait so long for the bus!"
"the bus is soo slow!"
"it takes so long to get to our destination!"
There was a lot more about such crap, but yeah i was kinda irritated when i saw all those. I know i personally don't think much public transport, other than holidays, i only take public transport on the weekends. Even when it's holidays, i spend my time walking more than anything, for eg. today, i walked to school, to lunch, and then home, and a lot of itmes, i walk to great world, to tiong bahru and so and so forth. But i take quite a lot of bus, cause there's a direct to church and all.
No matter how "terrible" our buses are, as those people love to complain, I'm just so confused at how we can feel this way.
SINGAPORE IS SO SMALL. the travel time we take is already considered OKAY. in fact, good. We have air-con! Thank God for that. goodness, in many countries they don't even have air conned buses. Thirdly, the bus has nice soft seats. If its dirty, at most its just dusty, come on, our classrooms are the same, right? Moreover, the fact we have an efficient public transport is already good! Children in Africa have to walk miles to school, everday!
These past few weeks, i've been taking super a lot of public transport, cause i have to fly from place to place, and i don't think its that bad. The journey is smooth, and is already considered comfortable, even though i'm standing all the time. It's the glum looks of the Singaporeans that kill my day. gosh, why can't they ever smile?
Is life that bad in Singapore, that everyone has to complain daily? Sometimes i'm guilty too, but honestly Singaporeans seem to be trapped in a bubble, OUR OWN BUBBLe, and we feel it with unhappiness and selfishness and god knows what.
IF you really hate public transport, just walk, lose some pounds, maybe it'll make you happier too.
